Sorry for replying so late, but thank you everyone for your responses. Been kinda busy lately. I just purchased the 1.4x III extender to go along with my new 5D Mark IV and have been testing it out. So far I really like the combination of the 5D Mark IV + the 1.4x III extender and the 100-400 F4.5-5.6 IS II L lens.
